Any recommendation for a return pump. I was thinking about a magdrive 7 or 9.5. I am going to using a hob style overflow. I have a 30 gallon sump that I am going to build here in the next few days. I can't wait to get this beast up and running.

HOB overflows are a pain in the neck. I would highly recommend a glass-holes overflow (www.glass-holes.com). It comes as a kit and includes everything…even the bit to drill the glass. With a 75 gallon you could go for the 700 gph or 1500 gph….either one would work. I would tend to go for the 1500 gph and use a MAG 9.5 as the return….just my opinion. Go to their website and check out their installation video. I’ve put one in on a tank that has ½ inch glass and it went in real easy. Again, I would highly recommend this overflow over an HOB. I’ve had HOB’s and I’ve had floods….they go hand in hand!

12+ years I have used this overflow box and never had a flood. If you set it up properly it is just as safe as drilling the glass. ;)

No.. just some really old generic overflow box I got with a sump setup I bought on Ebay many years ago. I added the aqualifter to it to prevent any overflows, before the CPR overflows came out and had that feature added. The CPR is nicer than mine.. but I couldn't justify spending $100+ on a new overflow box when this one works just fine for me. ;)

Got my stand last night. I am going to start ordering all of the stuff for the tank here in the next few days. I am wondering about the over flow box. The one i am getting has 2 bulkhead fittings on it. Can plumb the 2 fittings together or just run both pieces in to the skimmer section of my sump?

I think it would be better to run two separate lines. That way if one becomes clogged you still have the other to take over. Is this a U-tube style overflow or an aqualifter style?

Here is the overflow i built for myy tank. It should get me around 600-700 gph. I is 1.5 Pvc pipe. It took me like 30 mins to build and only cost me 15 dollars to make. It holds siphon really well. Tested if for almost 2 hours and it fired right back up. It should work really well in the tank.
