New 75G Up and running

Topsail's a nice area. I'm kinda partial to the Outer Banks, myself. But that would explain how easily you found the tooth. :D

I tested my water again tonight (4 days since my last test)
pH = 7.7-7.8
NH3 = 8ppm
NO2 = 2ppm
NO3 = 80+ppm
SG = 1.0245 @78.2F

As you can see, my water is rather deadly, yet the cycle is moving along slowly but surely. Should I do a water change? The ammonia has been at 8ppm+ for days and I'm concerned about 'nuking' any life forms that may be struggling to survive inside the rock. The low pH is to be expected during the cycle, so I'm not as concerned about it.

No, the LR itself is cycling the tank. I was cycling with squid before adding the rock and my ammonia never went higher than 2ppm. The LR was cleaned before adding to the tank, but was uncured. It is curing in the tank. No foul odor is coming from the water, but my skimmer has pulled out some dark, smelly skimmate. The water is still nice and clear in the tank (no bacterial/algae blooms.) This is week 3 of the cycle, so ammonia levels should start to decline soon. Nitrites are slowly rising and Nitrates have skyrocketed.

Tonight I decided to pull some of my rock out and clean them again.(Quite a bit of decay) I removed as much of this stuff as I could from the sand as well. It had collected at the back of the tank behind the rock structure. Unfortunately, I did have to replace some of the water (10g). Returning the rock back the way I had it was next to impossible, but I like the re-done aquascape a little better, anyway. :) I created some pretty cool looking caves. I'll test the water again in a few hours after everything settles down and clears up.
Here are a few pics.

Ammonia levels are down to 3ppm, everything else is about the same.

Its all going good so far slappy...on the meat you put in there as an ammonia source, i have heard of a few that have tried squid, and its not really produced much, when compared to a raw prawn for example....Try not to remove too much of the die-off as you need to decay and generate ammonia as this is your only source in the tank now..We need to achieve a good level of bacteria in the tank so its ready for when it gets stocked...

I certianly would not do a water change untill the cycle is over and done with, then a 50% change...

Keep the updates coming...
