New and need advice

I used aragonite (Caribsea??). I don't know if there is an advantage/disadvantage of one grade over the other (coarse vs sugar-sized) but I ended up using a mix of the two....mainly because that's all my LFS had.
Crushed coral is apparently a big no-no, btw. I think there is a sticky at the top of this forum detailing why.

Looks like the 29g is going back looks like it may be a little small for the yellow tang i would like. So the shop is gining me a 40g for $10.00 more:thumbsup:

Unfortunately the 40g will be too small as well. My yellow is in a 55g at the moment but I were buying a new tank today for it I'd be looking at 90g, maybe 75g. Maybe.

O well i guess there are other cool fish i can get, Well looks like i found a good fish shop a few miles away so hopefully between them and this fourm i can get this started the right way

i know people like cheap stuffs but that doesnt always happen. i even told myself i wont go over $1,000, now i spent like $2000 oe more, hey look i needed what i need the most =).

buying cheap or used stuffs will give you failure in the future, just my thoughts.

I disagree on buying used giving you failure. This is a hobby many approach incorrectly and become frustrated with and sell their equipment to leave the hobby. On the opposite spectrum are those that love the hobby and upgrade and have equipment that you can buy to fit the tank you want.

I bought my metal halides from someone that had gotten a 1/2 round 90 gallon. The lights didn't fit his tank correctly. They fit mine. So they were used for a year ahead of time on his 90g long..eh I got a great used bargin.

Well i started building the stand today, I got a little done but its going to take a while, I just got put on mandatory overtime at work.
