I have a 10 gallon that I recently cycled, and while at the fish store yesterday my wife decided that she wanted a pair of angel fish. They are small, about the size of a quarter. All they have done so far is hide behind some rocks. THey have been in the tank about 16 hours. Water parameters are normal but they refuse to eat. I have a 3"CAE in the tank as well. Could the reason they are hiding be because of that fish? Or do angels just take a long time to aclimate to the tank. (btw) this is a temporary setup, I am going to upgrade to a 100-125 gallon tank soon. The angels will be going into a 55 gallon.

I have an angel in a ten gallon Qtank also. It has been there about a week and a half and just started taking food off of the surface maybe in the last two days or so. I think they are just shy fish.

I have a aquatech small filter on the tank with a sponge added to the filter. I thought that the surface agitation caused by this filter would give them enough oxigenation. Is this good enough or should I ad some other form of air stone perhaps? They hover right above the substrate.

Same filter I have on mine. I have no airstone. I think everything is fine, tests are normal for NH NO etc. Mine is eating very well now, up until the last day or so it just hovered over the bottom also and only ate food that came down, now it eats off the top. Good luck!
