New apple snail is sedentary

should I be giving my snails tums, and how often? also what is snail jello?
Calcium dosing such as Tums is not necessary if your water is hard and alkaline. What are your pH and KH?

Check one of the sticky threads for snail jello recipes. It's a homemade food with calcium added in it.

so Lup, if my ph is usually 7.8 and wavers at most a .1 or so, and i don't know what my kh is, should i be testing for kh or do i even have to really worry?

(not a thread hijack, i promise! lol)

It's fine, BFM. A small difference doesn't really hurt anything. If you're worried, you can always dose Tums (calcium carbonate) or just use crushed corals in your filter. Calcium dosing never hurts anything, just unnecessary if your water is hard and alkaline already.

I agree with Lupin. My water is high in mineral content as it is so I rarely dose calcium and the shells look healthy to me. I've had brigs go in hiatus for a few days as Pix mentioned so unless it's for sure dead I wouldn't worry.
