I Just Set Up A 10 Gallon Tank About A Week Ago. I Have A Few Goldfish. Water I Clean But There Is An Awful Smell. I Have Whisper Power Filter. I Need Help Any Thoughts?

I have heard that the water quality has an effect on the smell of aquarium water. Good aquarium water supposedly smells like soil good for plants (manure, etc.). However, I'm no expert on the matter.

I'd suggest getting some test kits and checking the water for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. If you didn't cycle the tank before adding fish, your tank will be going through the nitrogen cycle (there's a sticky on cycling at the top of the Newbie forum). Daily water changes are needed while the tank is cycling to keep Ammonia and Nitrite levels down and reduce fish stress.

As an aside, goldfish aren't going to fit into a 10g for long - they're messy fish that grow quite large, and require a lot of room to stay healthy.

I'm assuming its not cycled, it probably just hit the spike and i hear that when it does hit the spike is smells for a day or two.

You should only have one post on this topic, no need to put it in more than one part of the forum. People will see it.
