New arrival...

OK I don't know anything about those fish, and I don't mean to flame you in any way, but don't you think you should have done the research before you bought it. I mean, for all you know it could be very aggressive, and might get very large, and kill all of your other fish. Not saying it will but you never know for sure when you don't do any research before buying a fish. When I see a fish I like, I run home and do a little research on it so I know if it will be compatable in my tank, with my fish. And if I find out it will work, then I go buy it. Sorry if I seem rude to you in any way but I just do not understand why people would buy a fish they know nothing about and risk their other fish like that.

microglanis iheringi (South American bumblebee catfish)

From the picture you posted, it appears you have purchased a South American bumblebee catfish. So long as you don't have any inhabitants small enough to fit in it's mouth(fry), your fish should get along just fine. Make sure it has ample hiding places, as it does most of its frolicking at night. Will eat tablet foods, pellets, bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp, apparently not very picky. You'll probably want to give it a little something after the lights are out, since that's when it will be looking. I found most of this info on scotcat.com and aquafriend.com. Good luck, it's always a good idea to do a little research first, but it is hard when they're so darn cute.

i must say tahts quite an ugly fish.....
i do that a lot when i go to lfs and see some cool looking fish.
i cant help it but to take the fish home... after getting home i do the research, thank lord my lfs takes the fish back with in the 7 days. haha

I don't think he's ugly at all....very cool looking. I might have been tempted to pick him up too....but.........I was once tempted to buy this beautiful little black and white catfish once. It was only about 2 inches long...but I decided to leave him there. When I went home, I looked it up...............I came very close to bringing home a "RED TAIL CATFISH" !!!!! (my largest tank is only 29gallons)

If you dont know what one of those are......practice your google skills and check them out....lol

Ya just found out he only grows like 4 inches, he is not a very picky eater and is very friendly but may hide for a couple of days before he starts......BUZZING!!!! LOL around. HAHAHAHAHAHA
