New Astrea and Nassarius Snails

I have been told that the Nassarius snails will not reproduce in a tank. I don't know about astrea. One can always hope.

I have both of them and they have never reproduced in my tank that I know of. But I do have a word of warning about nasarisus snails.

I bought maybe 3-4 for my 55 gallon tank. I didn't see them after a while, so I got a couple more maybe 4 months after my tank. I never saw those ones again so I got 2-3 another 4 months later. Those ones disappeared too (or so I thought)

Just for fun, I was watching my tank at night and saw that I had about 9-10 snails. Apparently, none of them ever died. I'm so glad I was watching my tank at night or else I might have bought more of them thinking I neeed to.

I have both as well and they have not reproduced in my tank either.. Now the ceriths on the other hand are having a wild party.

I also have to agree with Subliminal.. They aren't hating and I agree they are giving you the information you need. You just aren't accepting it.

I have to agree. Please don't misunderstand people's advice. I'm sure just about everyone here wants other people to succeed at this hobby. These are things you need to learn. Sometimes we learn the hard way and that's just a fact of life but don't get upset about just take it and learn from it. :D

I think a great number of people have given information and suggested to stop what you're doing in terms of adding new things and read. Some great sources were given. This forum is a great resource, but the initial groundwork needs to be done. Some of the basics that would be covered in any book are quite frequent questions of yours and some of the same topics (I do believe) have been covered in other threads. So, please understand that there may also be frustration (at least from me) when we've got some live animals involved.

never add anything to your tank without measuring. Then, your reasoning behind adding what you did to increase the entire SG up is mistaken. if I add in one gallon of water with an SG of `1.024 to 74 other gallons of water which are at an SG of 1.020, it's not going to change the SG much at all. This isn't simple math we're talking here to raise the SG. It's a slow and methodical process to not shock the system. My mind tells me that the SG of the water you added didn't really change it much.

Invest in your own testing equipment. the tests that the store is running for you in terms of ammonia, nitrate and nitrite are going to cost a measly $20 or so for some basics (cheap is better than nothing, IMO) plus hydrometer.

yes I have a had a hydrometer for a while now, about a month and yesterday form petsmart I got an API saltwater master test kit because I did a pricematch for $16.

Good, now start using them! I am glad to hear you are getting the equipment. :)

I will haha
