Should I get a 50-60 gal right away?

Try 150 or better. Oscars get pretty massive and deserve more space. You can keep one in a 30 gallon hex like the idiot on craigslist demonstrated, but those fish deserve better. Did you research oscars before you bought them?

Welcome to AC! lots of great oscar info here! and yes, you will definitely need a rather big tank rather soon. oscars grow quick! my Gus went from about 2.5 inches to nearly 7 inches since just March. if it was me with three fishdogs, lol, i'd look good and hard for nothing smaller than 200 gallons.

Might trade off one - the Albino to a friend and just keep the two tigers - working on a 100 G tank posted locally in craigslist

i think you'd still want to go bigger than 100 gal for two oscars. general rule is 120 minimum for two, if i recall correctly.

75 for one and 50 gallons more for each additional Oscar.

Welcome to the forum. Yes, I have Oscars (3) and I am not just regurgitating what someone else has written. I have 2 in a 150 and 1 in a 90. They need the room and the extra water.

If you intend on keeping them healthy, please read up and research their care. 55 gallon tank is not wide enough to keep an O. You need a minimum of 18 inches deep and 4' long. A 55 is only 12.75 deep and Oscars have been known to average 15" or more.
