new carbon

hi
i am putting new carbon in my filter ,.. buti am confused with one thing that new carbon is actually leaving its black colour ... thats why i did not put that in my tank yet...i have washed it alot but .. still it makes water black....
 
It should'nt, what kind is it.....:)
 
This is what i use, i fill the container rinse out the fine dust particles, but the water is never black.......:)

k now i have another problem ... i broke my filters switch.. n its midnight now... so i cant get that fixed.... so will there be a problem .. if filter remains off for like 12 hours or so ... ??
 
Can you put some kind of bubbler going for airation.......:)
 
and float the pads in the tank...?
 
Some of that carbon is really small. One little trick I just learned is to use my fish net to rinse the carbon clean. If you use a strainer, a lot of the carbon falls through it. The fish net is so fine that all the carbon stays in and you can EASILY rinse it out so that the water comes out clear.

Weeser: That's the activated carbon that I'm thinking about buying soon. How do you like it?
