I'm wanting to add lots of plants at the same time to my tank.
My local LFS stinks when it comes to plants, they either take them home themselves or order so few..

Anyway what is the best place to order them from that also has a really low shipping rate...and decent plant prices?

Any help will be appreciated.

You might give a try to the plant bulbs they sell in the pets department at Walmart. I've had great luck with them in the past--just make sure you take out any unsprouted bulbs after a month or so or they'll rot...

They'll do one of two things: they'll either not do well and die within a few months, or they'll take over your tank. Either way, they are cheap, about $2 for a pack of 4-6 plant bulbs...

By the way, what kind of fish do you have? Goldfish and cichlids will both eat any plants you put in....you'll have to sprout the plants in a bucket and move them over to the tank after they've got a decent chance of making it....

As for being quick, nope, growing from bulb is not that.

If you want quick, you might check your local plant nursery here in a month or two, once they get their pond plants in....

P.S. be glad your lfs is stingy with their plants, most of the lfs in my area carry snail-infested plants anyhow....great if you like snails, not so great if you don't, because they DO take over your tank....

I live in a small town, no local greenhouse carries pond plants,
and I've already got some of Wal-Marts bulbs and a few other plants I got at the LFS.

Right now I have very few fish, and I'm changing from Fish only to Planted...I think I'm going to add some Angels and an Eartheater or two...may change my mind before I get them though.

Any way, I'm upgrading my lighting to about 2 watts per gallon so nothing to high light needing.

I also have no clue as to how much/often to add fertilizers and what the best kinds are...like stump remover(my husband says I'm nuts)...anyway anything will be helpful.

I've been reading other threads but no one seems to cover this stuff at this time.

TIA

I have never had a true "planted" tank, only plants I've ever dealt with were those bulbs, because the one time I bought plants from the lfs was the time I got infested with snails, and I said to myself "never again"... I kept a very light stock of plants to offset the high bioload in my cichlid tank, and that's about it....since I was using my plants for that purpose, no fertilizers were necessary as the fish provided all the manure my "veggie garden" could ever need...:D

You might poke around in the plants forum, they have lots of good suggestions there....

I posted a question in the Newbie forum...wrong place i guess

Any way, where is the best place to order plants from?Somewhere that the shipping is low and the quality is good?
I want to get a lot at one time because my local LFS is pretty stingy with their plants...they usually take them home or order very few at a time.

I live in a small town so it will probably be easier to order.

I looke at the aquarium center and at live aqauria...are either of these two sites better than the other?

Any help please...

I got some really good deals on anubias from www.AquaBid.com a few months back. All the plants have done marvelously, and shipping wasn't bad--just whatever it cost the person (around $5-7, as I recall). Good variety, some neat package deals.
