I have a 29G tank. I bought a yellow lab and a blue hap ahli for it yesterday. I want a variety of cichlids but want to make sure they will not kill each each other. What others would be good companions for the little guys?

Unfortuneately you are fully stocked as far as africans go. These are large fish that need a big tank. The ahli (most likely a fryeri) will get too large for this tank. He needs a 55 gallon or larger.

You could however get 2 more yellow labs. Then upgrade your tank size or give away the electric blue when he gets too large. Yellow labs are really the only african that can be successfully kept in a tank that size, and only up to 3 of them.

Other than that you could get maybe 1 synodontis catfish, a multi or petricola.

A few rusties (Iodotropheus sprengerae) would probably be fine.....

You can fit them in there but there will be aggression and territory problems down the road. That size tank is not suitable for so many malawis.

A pair of rusties will work.
OR
A couple yellow labs.

Thats about it for that size tank. NOT the yellows, rusties, and ahli all together.
