My girlfriend and I went to the LFS and she bought some more things for her tank. She set it up last night and I think it looks awesome. Just curious on your opinions.

personally, i prefer a more 'natural' look. to me, your girlfriends tank looks fake and i'm not a fan of pink and purple in a fish tank. but to each their own ... as long as she likes it that's all that matters. what i personally think has no bearing on how she should decorate her tank don'tya think?

Nope, her room is a lavender color, so she choose black and purple gravel to match that and then she kinda kept going. I like the natural looks as well but I thought with she did a nice job with everything in her tank.

its nice but i think its a little too much in there. depens on the fish you put in there it might be fine. but imho its just a little overboard.

I'm not a fan of the day-glo gravel, myself, but I really like the rest of it! Kinda whimsical in a way. What kind of fish will live in there? I'd love to see a tubby ol' goldfish bumbling around, just to up the kitschy factor a couple more notches. ^_^

I think it looks great! My kids would love it! Those kinds of decorations can get very expensive though...that's why I go for the natural look - gravel and flower pots from Home Depot!

I like the natural look too, but I also get bored with it as well. I really like the way it is decorated with the castle in the back and the knight in front. I think she did a great job arranging the decoratons. KUDOS to her, she did a great job! :joke:

I think this is one of the best "fantasy tanks" I have seen.

Sure, a lot of us prefer and work hard to recreate a natural setting, but this one is done so well that I'll give it my approval. I like how the rocks make a lot of vertical dimension and give it the look of a fantasy landscape.

I have to agree, I have seen alot of tanks try to use decorations like that and look awful and tacky but your girlfriend did an awsome job. It is visually interesting and I love how she mixed up the demensions creating a landscape rather then a flat boring set up. I also think she did an awsome job with the fake plants, they really look like they are part of the landscape and growing out of the rocks. :thm: :thm:

edit: I just noticed how it tells a story! The knight is leaving the castle and going to fight the dragon who has blocked the bridge! Very cool!

i think the story is neat.

what size tank is it? i think 1 goldfish might be the most you want to put in the tank b/c goldfish produce a lot of waste and they grow quite large- you wouldn't want to stunt his growth he'll be a cute lively occupant for a decade if you take good car of him
