Someone call a doctor, I've gotten this disease bad:drool:! Here are some new plans for the not too distant future.

I've grown weary of my 72g bowfront community tank, so I think I'm going to turn that into an all male Hap/Peacock tank. A visit to one of the LFS the other night when he just got in some new ones(and some oohs and aahs from my wife:grinyes:) was enough to start me thinking. Here are some of the potential choices, trying to have a variety of colors and avoid look alikes. Probably wind up with 8-12 fish.

Aul. German or Ruby Red
Aul. Benga
Aul. Lwanda
Aul. Flametail
Aul. Maylandia, Sulfur Head
Aul. Kandeensis
Aul. Sunshine
Aul. Maulana Bi-Color
Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan" (Taiwan Reef)
Copadichromis sp. "Mloto Goldcrest"
Copadichromis trewavasae
Copadichromis azureus
Otopharynx lithobates (Zimbawe)
Copadichromis borleyi (Kadango) Red Fin
Tramitichromis sp. "Intermedius"

The manager and I talked for a bit, and he gave me great ideas. I was originally thinking of doing a Victorian or Peacock species tank. But like the others, females are generally drab. So the 72 will become a show type all male tank. I told him I also have a 4' 33 long available. So he said why not single Vic species tank for the 33? I like it! On top of that, I have a 40g breeder from the recent $1/gallon sale at Petco. Right now I am leaning toward at least some Triglachromis Otostigma for that. Am I losing my mind?

What are you gonna do with the current Fish in the 72g bowfront right now? :lipssealedsmilie:

Sell or trade in the ones that would be worth it. I have 10 danios in there that I would just give away.

Sounds like a plan photos are a must or it didn't happen aye..

You may be, but that doesn't mean you won't have a brilliant tank. I have one each of the above, and aside from occasional minor chasing, the tank seems to have settled down since I re-homed one of the two German Reds.

My Aulonocara jacobfreibergi "Eureka Red Jake" is one of my favorites, but I read that it's more aggressive than most. I haven't found that to be the case though.

I was waiting for that response:)! This won't happen right away, but when it does, I'll be sure to snap away and post pics. I want to research some more and try to start with a good mix off the bat. The LFS around here has some of the ones on the list. And there is a local group buy from an online breeder/dealer coming up at the end of August, but I am going away for a week after that, so I'm leary of leaving them so soon.

Thanks Jannika, those species may give me a good starting point and I can work from there.:thm:

An all male Hap/Peacock tank is a nice idea and that stocking sounds great. So, you are not losing your mind...at least, yet! I will consider that you are losing your mind, after your 3rd fish trade. :grinyes:

I'm sure that will happen trying to find them all! Especially when I'd much rather buy them as young adults than full or nearly full grown(and much pricier!) adults.
