new discus tank setup

I stagger my bulbs on and off. One bulb comes on about an hr Before the others and the I do the same when they go off. I give about 12 Hrs of light. I have found that if you just let all the lights pop on in the AM and all shut off in the PM you will scare the crap out of your fish!

:clap: This stuff is "GREAT"...I've been thinking about raising discus for a long time but I've always been afraid to take the plunge. I've read all kinds of does and don'ts about them and it gets your head spinning :nilly: but this hands on stuff by you guys, is invaluable, much more helpful and informative!! I think I might actually give it a try.

I stagger my bulb pairs on at 30 min intervals- so it also takes 1 hour to get full and drop off to dark. 12 hours also. I think that not only does it keep from scaring the fish- it's more natural for plants. It's also cool in that you can kind of tell what time it is by the lighting.
