New Emperor Angelfish question/issue

Hello all...
A few weeks ago, I added an adult Emperor to my tank. He is about 5.5 inches and has for the most part been doing great. He had a little battle with ich for a few days, but I lowered the salinity, kept the lights low, and added a garlic supplement to all food, and he has been pretty much ich free. Now though, he appears a little blotchy, almost appearing a little faded in spots. No one is messing with him and he is not messing with anyone, so stress does not appear to be an issue. He has been eating pretty much anything and everything since I put him in the tank.

Does anyone have any idea what is causing the blotching? Is it the remnants of the ich? Has anyone ever seen anything like this? I am not overly concerned, since he is acting perfectly fine, just curious.

the blotching is usually an after effect of the infestation or comes right with it. its usually a secondary infection(usually fungus) and will go away if the fish is feed right, not bullied, and the water quality is excellent. also how low did u lower the salinity? and do u have any inverts in the tank?
also on another note id recommend keeping either some kind of cleaner(shrimp,neon goby) whenever u have a large angel or tang in the tanks. or another option would be a UV sterilizer. or u can be like me and have both lol
 
I lowered the salinity from .024 to .022. He is acting fine, just doesn't look that great. I actually have 2 cleaner shrimp (of which only one does his job) and a UV sterilizer. Besides the shrimp, I have a bunch of crabs and one small anenome (and some **** aiptasia). No one bullies him, so that is not the case.

It does seem like his eyes are a little cloudy as well. I tested my water and it turned up I had a small amount of Nitrite. Could this be the cause of anything? I did a 10 gallon water change. It seems like everyone else is doing pretty well.

Again though, he is acting fine and eating great.
