Hi im new. One of my friends got me this really tiny fantail from petsmart, she said that it was in a tank withr really big ones so she felt bad for em' ,i dont know much about fish. Well this lil guy (or girl) is doing pretty well i guess. he lives in
THIS TANK
And seems pretty happy. HES SO SMALL! I see these pics of these big goldfish and hes the size of a nickel. Anyway,i dont know what else really to do, i dont want any more fish, and this tank is only temporary and I'll keep it until he gets too big for it. Ive had dogs, cats, and birds but im pretty new at fishys. So any help would be great :)

thanks,

Well, even though you know you need a bigger tank for this fish, don't buy one unless/until you have enough $$ for a 20 gallon setup. It would be tempting to get a 5 gallon hex for $30 or a 10 gallon starter kit for $38, just because they are bigger...but you'll end up upgrading twice if you do.

And when you get your 20 gallon tank (or bigger), let this be the only fish in there. Don't be fooled by the new size and space...the tank will be fully stocked.

As for right now, daily water changes of 80 or 90% on your 1.7 gallon tank will keep the goldfish happy.

TREAT YOUR WATER TO REMOVE CHLORINE AND CHOLORAMINE.
