New filter raises temperature???

It's not going to have any real noticeable long term effect. The tank volume is just too small to disipate the heat fast enough compared to the rate of input from the filter.

A fan across the top of the surface of the tank would probably help. However the best solution will be to increase tank size or go back to the sponge filter.

With the sponge filter I occasionally had nitrite spikes, even though I have a ton of plants in there. I was hoping to eliminate that with better filtering.

Have been attempting to figure out how to get a fan near it...
Though would have to leave it open for that, I don't know yet if he's a jumper, and there's already high evaporation w/new filter.
hmmm

oh and a bigger tank wouldn't fit in the spot, unless it's only slightly bigger. the 5.5g they have (listed usually as 5g) are just slightly to big.
I would give him his own 10g, but I would be killed lol.

apparently I was actually suppose to ASK before getting the first the fishies....
now have 5 tanks and a 'pond' and various others lol.
