I'm upgrading my filter because its old and just doesn't have the turn over it used to. Should I place the new filter on the tank and leave it running with the old one for 3-4 days? Or can I just take the filter cartridge from the old filter and place it in the new filter and remove the old filter.

Swapping out filters would be like cleaning out the old one. But I suggest running them both a week and then remove the old one. The bacteria you lose will have a minimal impact if any, since most of it is in the substrate and on the glass.

OK, thanks. I'm going to set up the second one on the tank and run them for a week then remove the old one like you side. The new filter is 10 times better then the old. The old was just drizzling water out. This one gushes, lol. My puffers were curious about the new intake but now they seem to be really enjoying the current and are playing around on the half with the new filter/directly being in the output. I feel much better having upgraded my filter cuz the old one was poor and I know my puffers will appreciate the much higher GPH turnover rate.

like new wasn't that impressive :/ I did that, and it didnt change flow too much, its just an old whisper, I'm going to just keep it on hand as a back up, which i should have around anyway
