New fish at PetSmart?

It would be nice to see them continue on this course.

great to hear of a large operation being conducted responsibly. keep it up Petsmart !

what would be nice if people who have pleasant experiences write in to inform them of this and how much happier they are to shop there; following on from the big stick of criticism offer the carrot of compliments !

I went and bought a few neons and a molly for my already established 10G (it's used more like an interim tank before I put things in my bigger one) and the lady at PetSmart actually asked me if it was a new tank before she sold me that many fish. I was impressed.

My Petsmart is good in that the fish selection is excellent, no deaders, and the water is well maintained. It's bad in that the staff are basically useless. Of course, 95% of the population in SE Texas is useless.

I buy most of my fish from PM, and have been very pleased with the animals. Even the best private LFS has some fish trouble which I think I inherited... sigh.

The Cichild selection has been getting slim at our PS. We'll have to check it out again, who know's.........:)

Coler - My daughter, her boyfriend and I have all done exactly that. Our PetSmart has a few very knowledeable and helpful employees who really are life savers (even to the extent of one of them supplying daughter's BF with stuff from his own supply because PS didn't have it in stock, and Dayne needed it now). We have all written to the Area Manager, District Manager and Head Office to let them know just how great they are, and that thanks to these dedicated employees, they have very loyal customers.

$3 is pretty cheap for Amanos, they're a PITA to breed, at best.
How places get $6-7 for RCS I do not understand. My LFS either sold or killed a tank full of RCS at $6.99 ea. They have very few left, but have added a few "black shrimp". I'm not sure if they're Neocaridina cf. zhangjiajiensis
or maybe a dark Caridina sp. "Tiger" morph.

I hope the one in my area improves as well. There are often dead fish in the tanks and they don't offer a very wide selection.

Same thing here, tanks normally dont look very healthy usually see several tanks with major ich outbreaks and its not surprising to see numerous dead fish in several of the tanks.

I would guess the improvements might be store by store depending on the staff as I havent seen any here.

Our local PS has done very well with knowledgeable staff, etc.
HOWEVER, I found out last week when getting fishfood that the company has gone to an AUTOMATIC SHIPMENT policy. In other words, the stores will get automatic shipments of fish every so often based upon what sells the most. The fantail tank was starting to look like a feeder tank, and the firemouths were playing bumpercars. So were the 1" blood parrot babies and pictus cats:headshake2: . .. . . Boy, I sure was disappointed for the first time.
