I have a 20g not long tank (couldn't fit 20g long on my desk), currently fit with 2 neon tetras, and 3 freshwater clams. Today,(around 5:30-6) I'm going to the store with my aunt to pick 3 male guppies (don't need 3,000,000 guppies swimming around!). Later I will buy 9 glowlight tetras, 2 Ottos, and possibly some Java moss. Will there be any conflicts upon putting the fish in? I tested the water on saturday and it had 0-1 Nitrite, 0-1 Ammonia, about 5 Nitrate, and somewhere around 4.5 PH. I have a cover, a heater, a light, and one of the thingies that draw water from the tank and dumped it back in, oxygenating the water. I've had the fish since around November, along with the clams. They came from my aunt's friends fishtank, and have lasted around a year in her tank without casualties. Thanks!

LOL..the thinkgie that takes water from the tank and dumps it back in is most likely a filter thingie..
0-1 ammonia and 0-1 nitrite indicates that the tank may not be cycled..ammonia NH3 and nitrite NO2 are not good to have in the tank..
what test kit are you using..?? sounds like strips.

before you add any more fish..have the water tested to make sure there are 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite..
when you add fish keep the volume of fish added down as new fish will introduce more waste and may cause a mini cycle.

your pH is at 4.5??? not so much as bad for the fish, but really bad for the people drinking it and using it... water at 4.5 is pretty acidic. it sounds to me like your tank just had a pH crash.

if you do not have a liquid test kit, you should get one. ammoina and nitrite at 1.0 is to high. you need to wait until your ammoina and nitrite are zero and your pH is under control before you get any more fish.

before you get glowlight tetras, you should get more neons. they like to be in groups of six or more, and a school of 12 will look great in your tank along with some guppies.

ooooops, my bad. . nitrate and ammonia are 0. I just checked my recordings.

nitrate is only bad for your fish in very large quantities, but its best IMO to keep it under 20
Hmm..... so 5 isn't so bad. Thanks. I got the fish, and they didn't kill each other yet, so I think it's fine. Thanks again. :bowing:

No. You add P's, not S's.
