heyy again..
i just bought a salvini to go in with my gt and i was wondering how long it would take for them to befriend eachother? or if they ever will?
also my gt has started to have a fit whenever she goes near the salvini n i was wondering whats with that? she never did it before!!
water parameters are unknown so don't ask me what they r..i know i know i'm buyin the thing tomorrow!!

The GT is actually trying to secure its dominance over the salvini. because it sounds like GT has been established in the tank, and youre adding a new fish, so the GT is trying to show this us their tank. Its natural for fish to do this. best thing to do is move both fish to another tank, and redecorate their tank, as the layout will be new to the both of them.

if i take the fish out and redecorate it then put them back in the same tank will they be ok?

you don't have to take the fish out to move things around, unless you feel safer that way. it's still not a guarantee that they will get along.

yeah it didn't work!
i took them out and changed everything over and the gt is still doing this spasm thing!!
and now its nipping the salvini..i give up on trying to get fish!!!!

you're dealing with aggressive species of cichlids, this behavior is expected at times...but don't give up

ok so i tried something really different and took the gt out and put it in with my oscar because i originally brought it to go in with it but my oscar picked on it..but i've read over the last week and a half that they have been seperated that reintroducin fish can help sometimes..so in went the gt and now my oscar has turned into a wimp and won't go near it!!!
dunno y but she is really scared of it!
she is slowly gettin used to it but she doesn't seem normal..because the salvini is smaller i think that is y it got picked on..what can i get to go in with a salvini?

salvinis normally mix well with other aggressive Central American cichlids, even larger ones, since they are very aggressive for their size. Smaller tankmates you can try could be neets, but I've never tried that myself.

Dont feel bad, when I first introduced my male Salvini into my Female Jaguars tank, she nipped at him for the first 2 days, after adding more rock work to the tank they get along just fine now.

In my opinion it all depends on each fishes temperment, and whether they are willing to associate with other fish in a tank.
