I just started my first aquarium, a simple 10 gallon tank. I had only done about 15 minutes of research and went ahead and bought 10 small goldfish. I'd like to buy some carnivorous fish that could feed on goldfish. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Well, this depends on your idea of 'small'.
And why did you buy fish and now you want something to eat them?

A catfish will eat them, a crawdad. a turtle.
A larger goldfish, some large sized guammis probably.
of course ciclids or oscars...

depending on how small small is, probably lots of things would eat them.

But none of those things will live in a 10 gal.
And neither will the goldfish for long.
They all get WAY too large for that.

I just bought some fish so I had something to look at until I decided what to put in there. They're only 28 cents apiece :). They are each about an inch and a half.

Cool, the cheaper they are the more fun they are to kill. And their little lives are worth less. While you're at it, go abuse some wild fish too, I hear it's free!

Excuse my insensitivity, I have to take it out on people since I don't take it out on my pets.

I'll assume you don't know any better. Take the goldfish back; they get WAY to big for even one to live in a 10g tank. The store probably won't refund your money —*so what, it's like three bucks. Here are some options for fish that can live and thrive in your 10g tank, AFTER the tank has been properly cycled (look it up):

Ten neon or glowlight tetras.
OR
Ten zebra danios.
OR
Ten male guppies.
OR
A half-dozen platies (all male or all female).
OR
Four swordtails (all male or all female).
OR
A pair of blue or gold rams.

I would add five dwarf cory cats to any of the above choices to round out the tank. If your interests tend toward fish capable of eating goldfish, forget the 10g — you'll need at least a 55 to properly anything that can do that. BTW, 15 minutes of research is a tiny drop in the bucket.

Hey thanks... As far as the goldfish, I'll probably just flush them down the toilet, even though they're more important than people.

Well, if you haven't cycled your tank, as I suspect is the case, you're only going to poison them with their own waste anyway. :(

yep, now how about we let this die?
