I just set up a 10 gallon tank with two comet gold fish that look JUST like koi. it is uncanny. any suggestions as to plants in a coldwater tank? I haven;t kept goldfish since I was a kid. I am more of a community tropical kinda girl. Any suggestions are welcome

Hi ticklemepunk473, and welcome to Coldwater. I am sorry to be a bearer of bad news but a ten-gallon tank is not enough for 2 goldfish. They will out grow that tank in about 6 months. They require at least 10-20 gallons per fish; they produce a lot of waste.

Goldfish love to eat and they will nibble on most plants. Java Ferns, Java Moss, Wisteria, Anacharis, Amazon Swords, and Anabias are good plants for goldfish.

Wish You Luck

Is the latter post of yours a joke too? It's NEVER good when a fish dies because of some else's ignorance. And one goldfish cannot stay in a 10 gallon tank either. If you've ever seen a fully grown goldfish you would know they could hardly turn around in such a tank. 20 gallons is BARE minimum for a goldfish of any kind.

PS: Lord help your poor Pleco who is in a cramped tank too. They get close to 2 feet long and need 55+ gallons.

....EDIT: Sorry, I probably should have asked what kind of pleco you keep. If its the common, everyday run-of-the-mill kind he will get huge!
