New Hara sp. have arrived

After doing some digging around for info, I believe they're actually a species of Akysis, not Hara.
Akysis prashadi looks like a very close match, allowing for differences in pattern between individual fish.

They sort of look like the SA bumblebee cats I had. Microglanis Ihirenghi (or something like that). Cute little ones. Good luck with them.

Geez, there was this great website that had two or three species of cats that look very similar to those. They were from SE Asia, I think Myanmar, Bangladesh and eastern India if I remember right. I'll see if I can dig them up on Cat-e-log or something.. I was thinking maybe they were Psuedolaguvia sp, but the heads on yours are round, not flat right?

The little buggers are more active/visible than I expected, particularly the ones in the 29 with the black gravel and Endler's. They quickly cleaned out the Endler's fry, and it occurs to me they'd be great for fry control if you have overproductive livebearers or cichlids. They're small enough to hide under minimal cover, and have voracious appetites from what I've seen. Drop in some frozen bloodworms and they'll eat until their bellies are bigger than their heads (in other words, typical catfish...) :grinyes: They also come right out and zoom around for flakes or NLS pellets. They are usually either resting or moving at fairly high speed, even when feeding. It's comical to see one in turbo mode, head down and tail wiggling, snatching up flakes off the sand.

In the 29 with sand substrate and les cover I have 14. Most of them stay out of sight in when the light is on, but a few are usually active. In the other 29 with more cover and a black substrate the other 5 are quite a bit more active, regardless of the light. Apparently with these guys it's all about security.
