New heater, big problems

They are made by Eheim. Iv got one orginal, and one new one. Both are perfectly fine, and work the same. If they dont work for you, you can always get Tronic heaters.

I got 2 50-watt Jagers for my new 20-gal tank a couple of months ago and the temp stays exactly on the 78-degree line on the thermometer. They seem ok to me. Why do you recommend Tronic?

Ebo Jager is no longer making heaters, they sold out to another company. The heaters are now called Jagers.

Sorry to say, but... I have both old and new Jäger heaters and they do just fine. In fact, the temperature just won't shift. At all. I would never even think about buying another brand, ever.

Purplesmurf, another thing that is handy to have on hand is a submersible thermometer, one that you can hold withouth effecting the temp. I have one that is encased in a skinny metal sheath that you can hang from the top of the tank into the water. That way you can check the temp. another way, plus they are only a couple of dollars. I no longer trust the little stickers that you put on the outside of the tank. A while back I found out that my community tank was living around 68-70 degrees!!
