Just found this site today, so I thought I'd say hello and all that. I've kept fish off and on since I was in kindergarten, when my mother bought me my very first goldfish and bowl (twitches at the memory). She also got me started on my first "official" aquarium in middle school, which looking back, has got to be the most overcrowded, mismatched, underfiltered community tank ever! LOL It was a 10 gallon with an angelfish, 2 pearl gouramis, 2 tiger barbs, a kuhlii loach, 2 cory cats (don't recall which type), a betta, and 5 "mini" neon tetras. All that with just an undergravel filter! I know, I know, talk about a disaster of a set up! I cringe remembering it too, don't worry LOL. Needless to say, I've since worked in a few pet shops, no longer listen to my mother (who never even taught me about water testing and advocated 100% water changes on a monthly basis), and I've learned a thing or two about compatibility. My son started clamoring for his own fish tank for his 5th birthday present, and that's when we set up him up for goldfish. I got him a comet and an oranda, but the uncle misunderstood tank size when he brought the 10 gallon home, so of course we upgraded to the 37 gallon he has today. He got a 3 gallon with a betta for Yule last December, and finally Mommy got her "own" tank. Wait, why if only one of them is mine am I the one who does everything? Well, to be fair, Rayne does feed his daily. He's just too short to use the python for cleaning, and testing is scary chemicals and all, and well . . . Oh well, I enjoy it anyway! LOL I take great pride in my little 10 gallon, which is a nice asian mix of dwarf rasboras, a powder blue dwarf gourami, 3 amano shrimp, and a Japanese trapdoor snail. I dream of taking next year's tax return, once we have moved into a bigger place, and upgrading the tanks. I want to move the comets and oranda into a 100 gallon, and turn the 37 gallon into a south american biotope. My 10 gallon I'd like to add plants to, along with the south american when I get it, but first I need to learn about all that stuff. But anyway, here I am, nice to see everybody!
