New hermit has appeared from nowhere???

I have noticed a black hermit crab in my tank but I have only ever bought blue legged and red legged ones. Can they come in as hitch hikers? Is it likely to be safe or should I get rid of it? I have recently had trouble with my turbos acting strange then dying and some one has mentioned they've seen them acting like this after being attacked by a hermit crab. ( see my other recent post)

its possible that is hitchhiked. i had some amazing hitchhikers on my rock

is it possible to pull it out and into a tub and get a photo of it..the only one which springs to mind are the yellow tip hermits...where their bodies are predominanly dark coloured and the tips of the legs are yellow, which, a lot of time, wont be seen very much....

how do I pull it out without hurting it?

just lift it out by the shell, put it in a clear plastic tub with some tank water and snap some shots when it comes back out of the shell to investigate its surroundings..

its a hawaiin zebra reef hermit. theyre fine in my tank
