NEW IMPROVED FILTER OR JUNK ? ? ?

Yeah, I can remember when the black ABS plumbing pipe was all the rage in new home construction. Ever since then my plumber friends have been kept real busy tearing it all out and replacing it.

Not tryin' to be a Ludite but newer is not always better. My aluminum flagged rabbit ears still work just fine.

As a 'returning' hobbyist and newcomer to this forum, I am surprised at the negativity of some comments posted here and most apparently even without knowing the product they are talking about or visiting the website of that product.
A few members however had done some more research and seem to appreciate a bit more the problem this filter is resolving.
One member even said having received a freebie for testing but then never posted his results?
Instead of playing Judge, Jury & Executioner, why not continue a real and constructive discussion about something that could be beneficial to everybody?
As far as I know, no aquarium filter has a quick backflush capability and only super expensive German canister filters use similar filter media!
To me, this looks like a 'Superman' filter.

It doesn't use mechanical filtration but instead uses the process of primary settlement of solids, a tried and true process in the wastewater treatment field. I just got a freebie to check out.(Thanks Harvey and Phil!) Haven't put it on a tank yet but I'll post my experience with it.

Did you use the Aqua Genie? If so what was your experience?
