New Jersey Fish Stores

I like the Pet Shanty on 22 too... there's also The Ocean Gallery a little further west up 22, they are decent but I think the Shanty has a better selection of FW fish.... the Ocean gallery has FW but has a nice selection of SW if you're looking for it... The shanty, they guys are pretty well versed in their things, the place isn't a beauty salon but it does what is expected...

I go to Allquatics in Hamilton NJ.

The Aquarium Center should definitely be on your list of stops if you are ever in the neighborhood. That is where i get all of my livestock. Its my LFS. Even though i'm like a half hour south of it. All i have near me are petsmarts. The employees can be a little hard to get ahold of though sometimes.

I use tropiquarium as my store. From my experience they have fairly reasonable prices, a vast selcection of both salt and freshwater, including plants and corals, and have an adaquate supply of equipment and decor. They the best store I have been able to find near my area.(Manasquan NJ)

Hm. I have been to Allquatics in Hamilton... originally I was very impressed, mostly because the guy that introduced me to the store was extremely nice and helpful (he worked there). But the last time or two that I visited, it seemed like the FW stock was not exactly great quality, and its selection was average, as were the prices. There is a large SW section but I am FW only, so I can't comment on that. Allquatics does seem to have a large base of customers who pay to have ponds/tanks set up and/or maintenanced.

A place where not to go? I would say Precious Pets. There are two stores, I think in Hightstown & Somerdale. I have only been to the Hightstown store-average selection, average prices, fish appear to be of lesser quality, and the employees are either not knowledgeable or acting as salesmen, simply trying to get you to buy things. However, they do have a pretty awesome sale every spring... something like 50% off freshwater fish except feeders & cichlids/koi(?), maybe a sale in SW as well, and a sale in dry goods...

i like the shark aquarium in hillside. its got a huge selection of livestock-big selection of equipment and dry goods- great prices- the plant section needs a little help but not the worst iv seen.
absolutely fish is really over priced on there livestock(they do have very healthy stock though-iv never had one of there fish die on me) and equipment but they have been the cheapest place i have found fluorite $21.99 for 15.4# everywhere else in north jersey is $23-26.

I'm from NJ but blanking on where Howell is hahah i dont know how far you are from Blackwood but there is AMAZING fish store there right on Blackwood-Clementon Road called Aquarium Center... 600 tanks and the biggest plant wall in all of SJ.... PM me if you want the link to their store and they do stock Flourite....

Although this store is about an hour away from me, I am tempted to take a drive there one day to check it out. :)
