so i am looking to replace the light bulbs in my 40gallon AQ and also in my 10gallon AQ...

in my 40G i have a farily moderately planted tank.. the ligth strip i uses has two 12-15inch long flourscent bulbs in them..
question one is what is the name of this bulb.. ( t-6,t-6,etc)
question two is what kinda light do you think i should put in it..

i never replaced the original bulb.. so the one I will take out is proabably the factory bulb .. i was thinking about the Zoo Med Flora Sun Bulb, Tropic Sun, or Unltra Sun.. or this blub called Power Glo ( dont know the maker of that bulb)..

and advise....

go to menards they have 18" bulbs in the plant/aquarium style for plants....i suppose like the flora bulbs you were talking about.... they go for like $5.95....they are a LOT cheaper then going to a petsmart/petco and getting a bulb for $20.....

i do not know how well they work though so get back to us on that!!!!!!!

good luck!!!

Sound like u got total 30 watts over a 40 gallon tank. two 18inches t8 tubes i think. Go for full spectrum daylight bulb with 6500k . If u are not sure about compatability i suggest u take old bulb to compare with the new one b4 buying. I bought a 30 inch t8 thinking it's 24 inch. Really dumb of me. Pardon my english.

dont worry iceman your english seems fine!!!!!
