new light wanted for my tank. what kind?

I am tired of that cheap light I got with my 29 gallon tank! my tank is so dull. I got the tank and light at walmart in a kit.
I want to get a better brighter light, here is my question

1. can I add a brighter light bulb to the hood? ( do they make brighter bulbs that fit my 29 gallon hood.
or

Do I need to get a different hood, and can you show me what kind to get?
I have wanted a new hood or brighter bulb for a while, I just do not know anything about lighting or wattage or anything.

the wattage on my light now says 17 watts. can a brighter bulb for a 20 gallon tank be found?

I have a hood like this.

so if I get a double light, I will need a different hood, just not sure what kind of hood to get. you have to understand around here we do not have choices. so if I get a fancy light, what hood would I need to fit my 29 ?

no, but there is a few live plants in it. also I have java moss and even that is not doing to hot. so it must be the lighting .

Sorry, alright so i dunno how long a 29 gallon is so pick the length and select any of the FW types. http://www.hellolights.com/comfluorsys.html .
