New Light?

It will be brighter, but not by much. If you're planning to start up a planted tank, what type of plants are you going to try?

I am but not sure exactly which ones yet, but I am just going to be using low light plants as not wanting to mess with CO2. I have an extra light bar with an (40w?) eclipse day light bulb in it, if I add this to the tank would that give me a total of 80w or does it not work that way. This would only be temperary until I can afford the new light.

I would personally get the Coralife fixture and a jug of Flourish excel and call it a day. If you get the 2x54w current I guarentee you will have algea issues on your hands with out co2.
