I have one of these lights and I like it alot. 2 power switches, one for the actinics and one for the daylight bulbs. Built in cooling fans. Stand legs available for getting the lights up off the tank.
I'm very happy with mine. But they are quite a bit cheaper here.
how well do these fixtures work with timers and are there two plugs on just one? Someone told me that putting a time on a fixture that has a balast is bad and can destroy the balast over time.
Dunno about destroying the ballast. I have had fluorescent lights on timers for years, and have yet to lose a ballast. It's a pretty common practice. Doesn't mean it's right, though.
The light has two cords and switches. The fans (at least in mine) only run when the daylight is on.
You're not going to be able to keep giant clams for sure. And I'm sure there are some hard corals that will require even more light, but I'm not the expert. I looked into giant clams for my 75g with the same lights as you have, and received a resounding NO WAY!!
