No kidding. Even with my bulbs 13" off the water surface I still get full light at the bottom of my 55.

Just curious, but did you notice any change in the coral when you turned off the mh's? I would really try and get about 20" to start, and monitor the corals, the lights won't have that much of an affect on the temp at that hight. Wana see some Pic's though... Also what kelvin are your lights rated at? I am just curious as to what most people use.. I have gone from 7k all the way up to 20k, now settle for 13k.
I didnt see a change in the corals with the lights off. But I did install two fans and it seems like I fixed my overheating problem, the temperature didnt rise over 79 degrees today..my bulbs are rated 15k.
