I have a couple of questions. Sorry in advance if they are repetitious but I didn't find just what I was looking for and figured that they are quick questions :) .

I've been cycling since last Sunday (1 week ago). Here's what I have thus far:
8/7: pH 7.8; Ammonia between 8 and 4; Nitrites 0
8/8: pH 8; Ammonia 4; Nitrites between .25 and .5
8/9: pH 8; Ammonia 4; Nitrites .25; Nitrates between 0 and 5
8/10: pH 7.8; Ammonia 4; Nitrites .5; Nitrates 5
8/11: pH 7.4; Ammonia 2; Nitrites 5; Nitrates 5
8/12: pH 7.2; Ammonia .25; Nitrites 2; Nitrates 10;

So, my ammonia is clearly going away, the Nitrites went up and are making their way back down. The Nitrates are on the rise.

Some more info, I have a 75 gallon, Eheim 2215 filter, fishless cycle using Ace Hardware 10% Ammonia Hydroxide, and about a 1 inch square of the blue filter material from an established 12 gallon Eclipse tank.

This link also has more information: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=120134

I'm concerned that my pH seems to be going down. At this point, the pH seems lower than the source water (source water = 7.6, tank is below that). Is this because of the 10% Ammonia Hydroxide or could it be from something else? I have no drift wood in the tank. Just styrafoam, egg crate, rock and 80# of Eco-complete substrate. I tested the rock using the Vinegar, Nitrate Solution, and sidewalk writing tests; they all passed.

Now that my Ammonia is almost gone, the Nitrites are dissapearing, and the Nitrates are increasing, what should I do next? Should I go ahead and do a water change? Should I add some more ammonia? I'm looking at FULLY stocking the tank, when ready, with 12 - 16 Mbuna cichlids (4 Pseudotropheus zebra, 4 Pseudotropheus crabro, 4 Psuedotropheus sp. Acei, maybe Pseudotropheus zebra Red or 4 Labidochromis caeruleus).

Anyhow, I'm probably just being impatient or something.

Thanks for reading and commenting.

When you dose to 3 ppm ammonia and the ammonia/nitrites are zero after 24 hrs....you will be there for the big water change and stocking.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I'll keep the Ammonia up and look forward to the first water change.
