Found this on one of my crazy CL fishtank hunts. A pretty nice condition 20 Long Metaframe Deluxe. I polished the stainless steel and resealed the inner edges with black siilicone after some careful prep. Repainted the wrought iron stand using Rustoleum satin black. The great find was the light hood. It wasn't a Metaframe brand, and I'm not even sure it's stainless steel. Could be polished aluminum, but it fits nicely and shined up beautifully with some fine steel wool. The sockets, wiring and swiitch were all old, cracked and dangerous looking, so I ripped it all out and rewired the whole thing Photo shows general setup with my 9 year old, Matthew supervising the operation. White rock, nice piece of driftwood and a couple of plastic plants. 1968 was a great year for fishtanks!!

Looks great. The 'chromed retro' look is sharp. Seems like most tanks in that era used the colorful gravel and the plastic diver over the bubbling treasure chest was a 'must-have' decoration. At least that is what my dad thought. lol. Nice find.

Yes. I remember the bubbling treasure chests, and as a kid I had the bubbling clamshell where enough air bubbles built up inside the upper shell section that it popped open revealing a pearl.

Very nice job cleaning the tank & hood. I'm always on the lookout for some Metaframe tanks (& hoods) but never have any luck on Craigslist.

Great tank. What are you going to keep in it?
