New Mini Horse Foal (pictures)

Jill-O

All American Girl (all grown up)
My husband and I raise miniature horses and we have had our first, and only, foal of 2010. She's almost 3wks old now and we love her. Being the only foal of the year, there's a chance she may end up a little spoiled. She's already a bit rotten!

Her name is "Bliss" (Whinny For Me'x Blissfully Dun). She was about 20" tall at birth but is growing fast.

Thanks for looking! Pictures are in chronological order.

What a cutie!

Forgive me for this question, but what do you... um... do with miniature horses? I'm a (regular size) horse fanatic and I love all animals, so it's perfectly acceptable if the minis are just adorable companions, but I have sometimes wondered. I mean, they can't curl up on your lap like a cat, you can't ride them like big horses... can you play with them like dogs or something?

Anyway, Bliss is absolutely precious!

Thanks!

I've actually owned riding horses since before I got into minis and still have one riding horse. When we got our first mini, I didn't think I'd enjoy the minis as much as my riding horses but it turned out I like them more.

What do I do with them? I show them in halter (National Champion) and driving (National Grand Champion). We do some in hand demostrations with them. And we breed show winning foals. Our stallions also help earn their keep by letting me pimp them out for $1,000/mare :) It is SO much fun owing the minis and they can be "just" companions or like mine, that and more... Before we got minis, which was before I saw some really NICE ones and wanted one for us, I also thought "they're cute, but what do you do with them?" See some of what mine "do":
