I'm not too sure about the travel, but I don't see why not
When I've bought mine, my guy just wets a paper towel, adds a TINY bit of water to the bag, & they perch on the towel for the 45 min ride home

I had my 1st 6 in a 20 long, no issues.
I found a 40 breeeder on CL, & scoffed it up

They aren't very active, but they are WELL worth it!
