I'd really like to see plans or some diagrams on how the hood works. How does it open, how tall is it, how do you cool it, attach lights etc.
I don't think I'm alone when I say I'd like to have one of those myself

Very nice! If I might add...I personally don't like the look of silicone in the corners so I covered my corners with a wood strip. You (your dad) could easily do this by taking a piece of 3/4"X3/4"Xthe distance between the stand and hood and cutting a 5/8" block the length of the strip. This would leave you with an "L" shaped piece that would cover the corners. A couple dabs of silicone and press it on. I actually only used a 3/4"X1/8"Xdistance between hood/stand on the back corners since you don't see the back anyway. It's just a suggestion, I think the set-up as is looks great!!!
