New Planted Tank. 3 days old. Your help is needed!

I think it's a Ceratopteris fern (not sure if it's C. cornuta or C. thalictroides), which is sometimes sold as water sprite. If it is, new growth will come out in typical fern fashion, with the new leaves looking like fiddleheads and then gradually unrolling. It's a very easy plant, but don't let snails anywhere near it because they'll eat the new growth down to nubs, eventually killing the plant.
 
i guess no one can agree on wht the mystery plant is. Where did u get it and wht did they sell it under, im really curious to wht it might be, torn between watersprite and wisteria.........:hang: either way looks like a really healthy plant.
 
from that picture, it really looks like my plant. But anyhow, both the difformis and cera seems to thrive in similar conditions, thats what I wanted to know.

Its starting to yellow, I hope with a tad more flourish, things will get better.
 
Oh no..

Things are not looking good. Day 5 of my new tank, and there is algae all over my wisteria and it looks yellow, with only the new crown being nice and green. My hairgrass are all starting to look messy with quite a bit of yellow blades. My front glass has a very thin coat of green algae, u cant tell it is green until u scrape the front. The only good thing happening is the glossostigma, which are growing very quickly, sometimes even pearling.

Strange how tropica rates the glosso as a difficult plant to grow, but it is doing best in a tank of "easy plants". The wisteria ought to be the easiest, but its just looking quite sick.

Just today, I added KNO3 in very small amts, added some flourish tabs, and brought my KH up to 4 with baking soda. My ph is now 7 instead of 5.5. I also added 2 Otos (the only fishes in there ) .

I added a water lily, and a cabomba to hopefully compete for nutrients.

:sad: I only switch on the lights for 12 hrs (48watts 10k over 10g) when I'm sleeping as the airconditioning would be on then to keep the tank temperature below 26 deg throughout the day. I've heard bad things abt algae and high temperatures.

Wisteria is a good indicator plant for nutrient deficiency because they grow fast and will exhibit issues quickly. Yours is saying it needs something. Eventually, your other plants will start complaining as well. When there is a nutrient deficiency like this, the plant won't be able to outcompete the algae since their growth will be limited.

You have alot of light so you're going to promote really fast plant growth, which in turn burns through the nutrients. You're adding KNO3, are you keeping your nitrate level around 10ppm? KNO3 will add a little bit of potassium but not enough by itself, are you also adding K2PO4 to add more potassium and phosphate (both are just as important as nitrates).

Reduce the photo period to 8-10 hrs, which is all your plants will need. Ensure you are dosing the full range of nutrients your plants need (check out the fert sticky). Get more wisteria, sounds counter-intuitive but when you get all of the proper ferts added, the fast growing plants will help outcompete algae for nutrients.
