new plants for my 10g

I have been looking for some new plants for the front of my tank and have found the lfs stuff pretty disappointing. However, I noticed on kijiji someone selling plants so I wrote and he's offered me the following package: sagittaria subulata, elatine triandra, riccia fluvitalis and limnophila sessiflora. I've only looked up the first two so far but I bet this is all a whole lot better than what I've got in the front of my tank presently, which is nothing. In the back I have an unknown sword, java fern and hornwort. I'm hoping to make arrangements to meet this seller and pick up my loot.

I have a spare 10gal that I was going to set up with just HEMIANTHUS CALLITRICHOIDES and Dwarf Hairgrass on the floor, and a wall of Giant Hairgrass in the back... or maybe a moss wall... keep it small

Your comments got me thinking again and I wrote the seller and asked if he had anything red or purple that I could use and so my package will include Ludwigia repens 'rubin' and Alternanthera Reineckii 'lilac'. Now I'm thinking, will I need to change my substrate from the typical Walmart gravel to something more suitable for my plants? I'd like something black better than the beige gravel anyway. And was total ignorance really bliss or a curse?

no, ive got my ludwigias in my gravel. But I do run pressurized CO2 and i fert everyday...
