i have just recently bought two plants one is called a cryptocoryne and the other is called a temple narrow leaf. sorry guys i dont know my ph or anything else like that because i dont have test kits. what i do know that the nitrites are at 0 and the ammonia is at 0 also. and if this helps i use flourish plant fertilizer and a co2 injection system. the plants are looking kind of yellowish on the out side leavesand fine in the middle. is this because of shock? or are these plants going to die? i also have a moss ball a sword plant an anacrist (probably miss spelled) and a banana plant. Any suggestions?

thanks for any info that is given to me.

matt

I'm going to assume that your other plants are doing well, (your moss balls sword, Anacharis [I believe this is what you meant?] and banana plant).

Your Crypts. are probably doing badly due to what is affectionately known as Crypt rot. It'll look like the leaves are turning white and just turn to mush within a few days. It's because Crypts don't like to be moved.

Also, the yellowing of the outside of the leaves *might* be indicative of a nutrient deficiency. You could check here to see if it might be a nutrient deficiency.

so does this mean that my crypt is going to die. should i leave it in or take it out of my tank. i am so frustrated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, just take out dead leaves when ever you see them. The plant should spurt new leaves eventually. Just dont keep moving it around.

thank you guys so much. i feel really relieved now that you guys have given me your information.

When I was battling staghorn algae I gave my crypts a bleach dip. I didn't think they would live but there was no way I could keep them the way they were. Anyway they melted like an ice cube in the Sahara so I just kept cutting off the mushy bits. After 2 weeks they started to rebound and fill back in. They are sensitive plants but they want to live if you give them a chance.
