Juvinile senegals in particular tend to hover just under the surface sometimes so its kind of normal plus it needs to adjust to its new surroundings.You probably could add floating plants for it to hang out in its what they do in the wild-Anne
 
I keep a black ghost knife with one of my senegals, and an oscar with the other... Note... The oscar was a juvi when introduced, and the bichir large. The oscar thinks bichir is daddy, so doe'nt fuss with him even though he's much much bigger than the senegal now.
