Also if you want a really cheap alternative to gravel, you can pick up sandblasters sand(in varying sizes) at almost and hardware store. It is very cheap and all you have to do is rinse it and put it in your tank! the only thing to be careful with sand is that it packs fairly hard and traps a lot of sludge under it, and it is not idea for plant growth if you are planning on having live plants. If you plan on doing regular water changes, every week or two (by using a gravel syphon, which is essential) then the sand will be no problem at all! Also many Fish Stores also have bulk gravel and that is usually much cheaper than bagged stuff! hope this helps!

Then a day later we added 6 Serpae Tetras and a few live plants to see if they live until tomorrow. How crule, I know. Thanks a lot for all of your help... any fish suggestions now?
