I am setting up a new 150 gallon planted aquarium and want this to be a Tetra tank, with Cory's and maybe some Loaches. Here is my basic stock list:

Columbian Tetra 6
Congo Tetra 6
Emperor Tetra 6
Bleeding Heart Tetra 6
Black Tetra 6
Neon Tetra 30
Cory's 10
Kuli Loaches 10

I am using cannister filters and am considering CO2 system. Never had a tank this large and have not used any CO2 systems either. Does this look like I am getting into an overstocked state for a tank of this size?

Hmm I'm not good with feeling stocking for this size tank, but my gut is telling me that you could bump up the numbers in each school of tetra. If it turns out that the consensus is that you shouldn't, then I think you should lower the amount of schools and bump up the remaining ones. A few large schools will be more striking than a multitude of smaller ones.

I like your suggestion. I was worried about overdoing the number of total fish, but I think I could increase the numbers of fewer species and I would be happier too.

Wow a big tank with lots of small fish, interesting. I wish you luck and hope to see pics!

P.s. I agree Seressime about the stocking :)

Personally I think it would be more interesting with larger schools of fewer species.

my 2 cents...

I agree, then again when it comes to smaller fish I like species tanks. If it were me I would do all congo's or 1/2 congos and 1/2 ember's or 1/2 celestial pearl danio's (galaxy rasbora)

just my two cents

I cant wait to see pics once you have made your decision!

Maybe I could go with

Black Tetra 15
Emporer Tetra 15
Bleeding Heart Tetra 15
10 Cory's

Would Angel's work with these species of Tetra's in a tank of this size that is heavily planted? I have never really had a lot of experience with Angels. What about Blue Ram's?

Blue rams are awesome. They are probably one of the smartest fish I have ever been around (I think I'll start a thread about this) but they are not that easy to keep. Google the celestial pearl danio (galaxy rasbora), I think you'll like them.

I just want a little bit of color variety without too many different species. I love Tetra's and if Angels or some Blue ram's could coexist with the Tetra's, I might do that. The Angel's would add some size difference to the tank, but again i have zero experience mixing Angels with the bigger Tetra's.

They are beautiful! How big do they get compared to other Danio's?
