You can't believe how much sand has been moved recently by the ones you're getting. Just in time too, momma had another batch emerge today. Looks like at least another 10!
Well I paid with an echeck so the shells haven't been shipped yet so I have been researching how best to clean them. They have all been sitting dry for a while so is a quick rinse okay or do I have to boil them? I read that boiling can break down the shell and I see no reason to risk it if it isn't necessary. Thoughts?
Shellies are going in the mail Monday. May be upgrading to a 55 gallon if this trade I am working on goes through.. Seems a little excessive for one of the worlds smallest cichlids, but I think it will be epic. Beside in my area it is typical as good if not a better deal to go with a 55 instead of a smaller tank barring 10 gallons that is. Does anyone know how they like those cichlid landscaping rock setups? Because if they like those it will give them some higher hidey holes and I can put shells all over the floors. Thoughts opinions constructive criticism?
I don't think they willl utilize the rock shelves like they do the shells. If you like the aesthetic go for it, but shells are more than adequate. As for the mts, they do just fine with shellies.
Got the first batch of shells which have been boiled and added to the tank. 42 shells in a 10 gallon looks awesome. Gold and silver turbos bought from an AC member. I will take a picture as soon as the camera charges...grr thought it was already charged.
I have more shells in the mail and if a deal I am working goes through I will be setting up a 55 to move them to eventually. Epic tank in progress. I hope the deal goes through!
55 deal fell through, oh well. Any one interested in trading my 135 needs resealed with lights, hoods, and stand for a couple of 55s or other tanks and setups? Located in Salvisa, KY.
