got my new briggs tank up and running and it is about 10 days old now- white, blue, brown, black, and 2 magentas- they are so much fun to watch! Thanks to all who gave me info on getting the tank started-If I can I will post pics- I rigged up a rock tower to the filter so it's not so noisy pouring into the tank(it's a hob and with a couple inches at the top it sounds like niagra falls-without the rocks there-) the snails seem happy and active and eating!

Congrats! They really are great and lots of fun to watch! How big are the snails?

And yeah, would love to see pics! :)

phooey I am so sorry! my camera's on the fritz but I will post pics soon- Today I actually received 3 large(I didn't know they were so large when I ordered them) light yellow snails- one is near golf ball size! They are all three happily munching on lettuce -but are these regular briggs? I am secretly wondering if they are the kind of apple snails that get REALLY big- and will they mess with my beautiful marble sized snails? also- they keep reaching their syphons waaaaayyyyyy out even though they are under water- I brought them up to the surface and they all "reached" and breathed- but have since been back down and they still keep reaching-my other snails only do this when they climb the sides or rocks to the surface....just wondering...

I guess I am wondering if the new guys are pomacea canaliculata rather than the bridgesii-and if so will they hurt my bridgesii......
k, that's all- I"m REALLY gonna try to get pics tomorrow.
