I really like the 1st one, I've seen the second in shipments of potted aquatic plants from florida

Are you keeping those as pets? If so, what kind of set-up? Those are cute snails.

yes, i'm keeping them as pets. i have them in big tupperware containers right now, until i set something better up for them. the helix aspersa and cepaea nemoralis will be going in a 20g and the Achatina Fulica will be going (eventually) into a large tank. i'm thinking a 55g. for now they are best off in the tuperware cause they require a high humidity and extra heat. i caught the cepaea nemoralis outside in a public garden. my son found and empty shell while he was out walking and brought it to me because he knows i like snail. he thought it was sleeping in there. i thought someone just lost the shell. then my daughter wanted to go see if we could find some live ones and we searched everywhere and when we were about to give up we ran into a parks and rec worker and asked him if he knew where we could find snails and he brought us right to them. (: all three are invasive species that can be found locally because we have a shipping canal here that brings all kinds of stuff in. we can also fish for some kind of gobies but if you catch them it's illegal to put them back into the water.

Are they the ones that get huge? I think they can make great pets, maybe there is some way to deworm them though if you are going to handle them a lot.

how would you know if they had worms or not? the big ones i have were captive bred not wild caught. i don't handle them all that much but my daughter likes them crawling on her. i didn't really think of them as possibly having worms because they are captive bred for a few generations, other than the ones i caught myself.

I guess you never know, I would make sure you always have her wash hands really well afterwards. Different snails harbor different ones and some can pass to humans and some can't.
It is a cool pet nonetheless.

oh my goodness, those are awesome!!! i wonder where i would find some sort of land snail around here.
