NEW STAND!!!!

K so i got a news stand for my 30 gallong long tank...

heres the thing...

its a all-glass-aquarium stand... and basically where the stand meets the tank, its basically a large rim to set your tank on... does this make sense?? like i have 4"x.5" pine in a rectangle to set my tank on...

does this make sense??

well heres the thing... the bottom of it is open...
its good for my custom tank thats coming because its predrilled for my overflow...

I am just wondering if I should get a nice piece of like 1/2" or 3/4" plywood and put it over the top erasing the giant hole and giving it a much more solid base??? and then cut out a hole for my bulkhead???

what everybody's opinion on this...

Are you talking about putting an acrylic tank on it?

it also has these two small pieces to help prevent the tank from sliding off the top, you can see in the pic they rise up about 1/4" to fit in the space between the two sides of the tank on each end.

if i do the thing with the plywood like i was talking about, i would remove these...

also if i did the plywood thing, i would paint it all perfectly and round the corners so it lookes legit..

whats everyones opinion?

It actually looks sturdier than the stand we have for our 2-55 gals, and the 37. they all have open tops like that

so the bottom glass is not going to bow or anything??? so im all good??

does having a bulkhead in the bottom of the tank weaken it?? if so it would make sense to do the plywood thing...

otherwise it sounds like im good!

yeah - you're all good - your tank will be fine on this stand without modifications
